Introduction of Zinc Oxide Rotary Kiln Equipment

2023-06-08

Zinc oxide can be used in various industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, paints, pigments, etc. Against the backdrop of rapid economic development in China, the demand for zinc oxide in industrial production is constantly increasing; Zinc oxide is mainly obtained by smelting in Rotary kiln, and this process is widely welcomed in China.

Lead zinc ore smelting involves enriching zinc in slag and then treating the slag with a fuming furnace to produce zinc oxide or secondary zinc oxide. In China, the leached slag produced by blast furnace is fumigated in Rotary kiln to obtain zinc oxide or secondary zinc oxide.

Treatment of zinc oxide in Rotary kiln

The production of low-grade zinc oxide is a direct production process with Rotary kiln as the main equipment, which is called the Wiltz process, also known as the Rotary kiln volatilization process. The treatment process is as follows: various zinc containing materials (mainly water quenching slag or zinc leaching slag) are mixed with coke powder or smokeless broken coal in a certain proportion, and put into the Rotary kiln through the feeding pipe at the kiln tail. When the Rotary kiln rotates, the materials roll forward slowly. Under the forced air blast, a high temperature reaction zone of 1000~1200 ℃ is formed in the kiln. Under this condition, the zinc metal compounds in the furnace charge come into contact with the reducing agent carbon, which is reduced by C and CO to form metal zinc vapor and enters the gas phase. In the gas phase, they are then oxidized by oxygen in the air to form zinc oxide dust, which is captured and collected by the flue gas entering the dust collection system. The captured smoke and dust are low-grade zinc oxide products. In addition, metals enriched with zinc (such as lead, indium, etc.) are also reduced and oxidized into the product, while copper and precious metals such as gold and silver remain in the kiln slag.
